Other day I began to think about some things I wanted to do. Making plans and trying to figure out how to bring them to fruition. How will this work, does it fit, what about this…….. and then the still small voice of God reminded me of something I read earlier about how control can be turned into an idol if I fail to incorporate God into the mix. We can make all the plans we want but you have to remember that most of our plans are inspired by him. God already has a plan ( Jer29:11 & Jer30:18-22) in place for how they are to be carried out.

The key to them being successful is found in this one little thing: We have to let God work out the details. You might have to take unplanned twist and turns or maybe do something that doesn’t make sense to you right then but it will in the end. God wants our will to be submitted. When we can do this things flow much easier. That’s not to say you won’t meet certain challenges because you will. Anything that God’s elect does for His kingdom will encounter resistance from the other kingdom but you cannot be moved. Distractions will come from some of the most unlikely places sometimes people you never imagined will come right out of left field over something that is so mundane its almost comical.

So when you make your plans be submissive to the Master’s designed plan for you and when “situations” arise just know that you’re closer to the end than you realize.

Doesn’t it seem like after you go through or maybe while you’re in some of the challenges life presents that you’ve just experienced a growth spurt? As painful as it may be (and yes my friend it is) we are always given these God arranged/allowed circumstances for our good. I know that for me I have to ask God what is this I’m feeling. I want to put the right label on them and not mask the truth. I‘ve come to learn the difference between anger and disappointment. It might take a moment but whenever I seek Him he ALWAYS comes through. God shows me the best way to deal with whatever situation I’m in when I get into His word. There is both comfort and chastisement in the word. Our shortcomings are exposed and the course to making minor adjustments to our character can be found in the word of God. We just have to go through while we learn the difference between an enemy attack and self inflicted wounds because in spite of what Flip Wilson used to say “the devil didn’t make you do it”! Both ways it hurts and we grow. John 15:2 tells us about the pruning of the Lord. The only reason we get the grand opportunity to “enjoy” these experiences is because we are valuable to the Kingdom of God.

So as you go through this journey remember He only prunes those branches that are bearing fruit so that they may bear more fruit and it won’t kill you it just makes you better for the master’s use. You’ve got his word on it!

During my prayer time recently the devotional I read referenced Gen 28:15 and when I got to the b part of the verse: “for I will not leave you until I have done all of which I have told you.” It just jumped off the page and hit me right between the eyes. There are times when you might feel like you’re so far off from the path God has for you but you have to remember that the path your on was custom designed just for you. Every little twist and turn was approved in advance to further you along in fulfilling your destiny. So if God has given you a word to confirm a promise he made as the verse says above he will not leave you until he has done it and when you feel like you’re the farthest just know that’s all the confirmation you need because you’re closer than you know!

I was driving home the other day and quietly reflecting on my life. Looking at how God has blessed me in spite of me, my flaws and my basic humanness. I rest comfortably in the knowledge that he loves me. Only his love for me kept me when certain pages of my life turned and I didn’t know any better.

As we go day by day the pages of life keep on turning. There is nothing that we can do to prevent it. Its going to happen. It’s by design and for a purpose. When the pages turn sometimes we know ahead of time that it’s coming then there are times that they catch us seemingly by surprise and when they do we can either embrace or mourn it we have that choice. Deuteronomy 30:19 tells us to choose life. Choose that thing or the way that best represents the life Christ gave himself so that you could make that choice.

Today choose life and rest in God’s love!

A lively debate has ensued recently around the subject of tithing. The questions / statements are: Whether to do it or not because it’s not in the New Testament. How do you do it before taxes or after? The most heated one: giving your money to a preacher. I will attempt to address them as I have learned and am led by the spirit to share with you.

Whether to do it or not because it’s not in the New Testament.

That’s not true while it is an OT principle: Abram gave tithes or a tenth to his priest Melchizedek Gen14:18-20 and was practiced among the Priest in Leviticus27:29-31. The New Testament tells us that Jesus was made an High Priest forever after the order of Melchizedek Hebrews5:5-10;6:20;7:1-21.

How do you do it before taxes or after? Before taxes right off the top. It is a tenth of your gross income not the net. Let’s look at in agricultural terms, If you planted a hundred acres of corn on rented land where you had to give the owner 10% of the harvest. You wouldn’t deduct the cost of the seed, man hours spent on planting and harvesting, nor the cost of fuel to accomplish it out of his 10%. You would give him his right off the top. Is not God worth better treatment or at least the same?

The most heated one: giving your money to a preacher. You are not giving your money to a preacher. The Man or Woman of God who consistently speaks the word of God into your life-is your priest. This is whom you have been led to by the spirit of God. If we look at this on the most practical level there is. All “Church Houses” have expenses just like your house only higher. When you roll up in there in the summer the AC is working, if not someone has to come out and repair it maybe even replace it! Do you think that they will do it for free because it’s a church? In the winter that heat is on and its nice and toasty on those cold mornings and nights when services are being held. The electricity to keep both on has to be paid for. When you use the bathroom at church, the water bill has to be paid. We haven’t even got to toilet paper, soap, paper towels, Kleenex etc…… If you have a sound system, stage lights and props for when the kids put on their Christmas productions. These are the things your tithe covers. And I haven’t even mentioned the employees of the church. Who cuts the grass, shovels the snow and cleans the church? As noble a thought as it might be you can’t find enough volunteers to “faithfully” do it (the everybody, somebody, anybody, nobody rules comes to play). Let’s not forget the Pastor’s salary and his staff. Today’s climate has also made it necessary for church’s to hire accountants, lawyers and security. I could go on and on but I just want to make my point clear.

Tithing is a worship experience. True worship is not so much found in a song but it’s in your heart. It’s the place where you set aside your wants and desires to obey God and his word.

If God favored with you with some money, I don’t think a dime on a dollar is too much to ask in return.

The other day my smart phone started acting up. Some of my calls went straight to voice mail and when I went to call someone from speed dial they weren’t there. I then noticed that some of my contacts were missing. All of the people that I forward by text the daily Uplift messages I receive from @HartRamsey were reduced to lists of telephone numbers. Yesterday I went to sprint to see if they could help and they guy there told me the only way to correct the problem was to do a factory reset because my internal memory was low. So when I got home I decided to wait until I got the “Uplift” for the day and then fwd it as usual and send an additional txt to respond back with their name, that way I could recover & rebuild my most important contacts. After I sent everything out, I deleted some apps cleaned out my emails and txt messages. Guess what? My contacts list was divinely restored!!!!

This morning I began thinking about it and how grateful I was because I didn’t know whose number I thought I had lost forever and how the problem was rectified by simply throwing some stuff away. The other day @BishopNoelJones sent out on twitter that it’s time to un-clutter your life. Too much clutter and your mind can’t think straight! This phone experience reminded me of something that I desperately need to deal with. Which brings me to this thought: What do I need to throw away, in the natural and character wise, which just might be clogging up my flow with the Spirit causing me to be distracted in a real subtle fashion? Asking the Holy Spirit to show you will produce some sobering results so be prepared!

All of the confusion and discord taking place not only in the world today but in our own personal lives is nothing but spiritual warfare and has to be treated as such. Eph6:12 tells us that people are not our problem; it’s the spirit behind them or rather influencing them that is at work. God has been allowing me to see things from an entirely different perspective lately. What I used to immediately attribute to people I now recognize as spiritual attacks. The body of Christ is under attack and we are being assaulted on all fronts. The enemy has crossed over into our territory and has captured some of our soldiers. Tongue talking saints of God are now POW’s. It’s like Jesus warned Simon in Lk 22:31-34 that Satan wanted to sift him as wheat. There is always talk about taking back what the enemy has stolen but our team members are being snatched right from under our noses! The enemy is separating our brethren like a cutting horse and it has long past been time for us to “man up” and get angry enough to fight back!

I challenge you today to go into your prayer closet and begin interceding daily for not only the lost but for our fellow team members according to Col1:9-14. Use your heavenly language and Rom 8:26-27 will become activated assuring that the perfect prayer has been said.

Walking in love is easier said than done. Every time I hear a message on love I know that the love test is coming, it never fails. What sets this test apart from the others is the intensity and frequency of the “tests”. They seem to be nonstop, popping up in different areas of my life. One of the messages I heard was from Bishop Jakes “Love has no Loopholes”. I hear the title continually rolling around in my spirit throughout every little “quiz” I face and it’s so true, there are no loopholes or another way to put it is there’s no wiggle room.

The tests are not God ordered, its life and he allows it giving you all of the tools you’ll need to win upfront. I have learned that sometimes walking in love means to just keep quiet when everything in me wants to say something. In my journeys I picked up this tool that is so powerful “the restraint of pen and tongue.” With today’s technology you can add keyboard in there also. If I can let the Holy Spirit gently guide me to the word as he did this morning 1Peter3:13-17 Amp, I can ignore the distractions by allowing him to show me what’s important.

You can rest assured the tests are coming! The love test will come on all fronts just remember the greater the test the closer you are to breakthrough. Will you pass the test or fail and have to take it over again? You CAN pass the test if you let love and peace be your guide.

I was reviewing some notes I took awhile ago that went like this: “God is opening the flood gates of revelation for us to see things and understand things like never before.” As I began to meditate on that it reminded me of something I heard Pastor Sheryl Brady say recently about how the now is the time to be ready. We’ve been getting ready for a long time and we should be ready by now.

All we have to do is look at world events and see that the earth is in labor. I don’t know what trimester it is but it is getting close. When Sandy hit NY and the surrounding areas I thought about all of those movies they’ve made about NY being frozen and flooded. Fiction predicted reality huh? Natural disasters are increasing and occurring more frequently. People killing people and they honestly believe that its Gods will for them to do so (Jn16:2). Constant unrest in the Middle East /Israel, economic uncertainty engulfs the non-Tither. Like the old folks used to say “The world’s going to hell in a hand basket” all the while the gospel is being preached more and more around the world. This is the sign that we look at. The word of God is going forth like never before, with that comes new revelations about that word. All of a sudden a scripture that we could recite backwards has taken on a new meaning we never saw before and all the time it was right there under our nose.

God is speaking to us more and more by His Spirit. Spirit to Spirit is how he communicates with us. Judge everything you hear and see by the spirit. Does it line up with what God has already spoken to us in His word? If so your spirit will bear witness of it. But you can’t know it if you don’t spend time daily in His word. Your adversary the devil knows how crucial the word of God is to his demise, that he will send all kinds of noise and disturbances to distract and keep us from arming ourselves with the very thing that will ensure our victory.

Stay focused because it’s a fixed fight. I cheated and read the back of the book and it says WE WON!!

My Devotional for today focused on getting through difficult days with God. The thing that really stuck out was how we can gain confidence through the knowledge that together with God we can get through anything and how this knowledge is composed of three parts: Our relationship with him, the promises in the Bible and our past experiences of making it thru successfully. The last part is where I really want to focus let’s call it “rehearsing past victories with and in him.”

The one thing we have that will never change is God. When things seem to be going sideways the sooner I can grab hold of my emotions and not “go there” the Holy Spirit WILL step in and gently offer little markers to get back on course. One of those is remembering back when. If I made it through that then surely with God’s help we will make it through this. My Bible tells me Jesus is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. One of our instructors in the school of ministry says God already put it in the budget. He has made provisions in advance for everything that you will ever need.

So remember, it doesn’t matter what your “this“ is, God is greater and he has a plan that is designed to bring you out and just like he was there with the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace he is with you and you’ll come out whole and not even smell like smoke.
